Team Tri and Du It

Brad Finn - Team Manager

Team: Multisport and Running

History:
I started Triathlons in the summer of 2005. Moved up from the sprint distance the next summer. Competed in my first Ironman in April 2008 in Arizona. Since then I have competed in IMLP in 2009 and IMAZ 2009 and have competed in triathlons all over the US. With that I have spent my free time working for and volunteering my time with Tri and Du it Multisport. This behinds the scenes look at triathlon has been great for my education into the world of multisport!

2010 Goals:
Get Team Tri and Du It up and running and make new team mates and friends. Compete in the Rev3 Tri series which includes and Ironman distance in September and place in the top 10% of my age group in one of the races. Lastly I would like to sign up for IMLP in 2011 and cheer on Tri and Du It owner JP Latkovic in his second go at Lake Placid this July.

History:
I never knew what triathlon was about till I worked my first race at Cedar Beach in October of 2007. I was immediately hooked and was determined to someday complete the Ironman. Fast forward two years, I have completed the sprint, Olympic, and full Iron distances as well as the marathon. I prefer to stay non-competitive with triathlon and focus more on staying in shape and having fun. And I live in Maine so if anyone feels the need to get away from it all for a week the door is open and the light is on.

2010 Goals:
Signup for IMLP & IMAZ 2011. Training kickoff in October.
Sub-2:30 time for Lobsterman Tri in September
Complete Pumpkinman Half-Iron

Lance Homan - Long Island

Team: Multisport and Running

History:
After being a recreational runner to stay in shape, I decided to participate in my first 5k in 2003, and was hooked.  In 2006 I competed in my first tri on Block Island.  Since then I have competed in numerous duathlons and triathlons across Long Island, ranging from sprints to half.

2010 Goals:
I will be competing in the LI marathon, Rhode Island 70.3, and the ultimate goal of completing my first Ironman in Louisville-- August 29, 2010.

JP Latkovic - Team Owner

Team: Multisport and Running

History:
I started triathlons back in 1999 after watching the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon on tv. After completing my first olympic triathlon I was hooked. Since that race I have done 2 Ironman triathlons, Escape from Alcatraz, half ironmans, XTERRA triathlons and numerous marathons, half marathons and 5k's all over the country. In 2002 I started Tri and Du It Multisport and now run it full time.

2010 Goals:
Ironman Lake Placid - July 25, 2010
Summit for Someone - November 5 - 14, 2010

Greg Rodriguez - Brooklyn

Team: Running

History:
I started running casually in the summer of 2006 with the intent of keeping some pounds off. In 2008, fellow teammate Jason Kassay convinced me to compete in my first 5K, the St. James 5K, and it was then that I realized how much I enjoyed running and training. I also trained for and completed the Cow Harbor 10K in Northport, Long Island. In 2009 I completed the Long Island Half Marathon in May as well as the Cow Harbor 10K later that year.  This year I have completed the Long Island Half Marathon as well as the JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge, setting personal bests in both races.  I also work as the Registration Coordinator for Tri and Du It Multisport.

2010 Goals:
2010 Cow Harbor 10K
Bronx Half Marathon
Niagara Falls Marathon

History:
After competing in our first of many 5ks in 2003, my husband Lance and I were lured in by the challenge of a triathlon.  In 2006 we competed in our first sprint distance tri on Block Island.  Since then we have competed in triathlons all over Long Island, my longest distance being an olympic.

2010 Goals:
After the Long Island Marathon, we will be traveling for the Rhode Island 70.3 in July and Ironman Louisville in August…all firsts for me!  My goal is to train hard, stay healthy, maybe surprise myself, and of course have fun.  I am also looking forward to supporting my Tri and Du It teammates as they go after all of their goals this season.

Peter Rackett - Long Island

Team: Multisport and Running

History:
I didn't start running until 1978 at the age of 39 upon a doctor's advice for being overweight and stressed.  Completed my first marathon in 1980 (Long Island in 3:48).  Have finished eleven more since then with my best a 3:11 Long Island at age 47.  PR's in the 45-49 age group were a 17:54 5K, 29:48 for 5 miles, 36:36 for 10K and 1:23 for the half marathon.  Have averaged over 25 races every year since and have totalled well over 50,000 miles of running.

I started tri's and du's about ten years ago to add some variety and cross training to my life.  I turned 70 (USA-Tri) last year and finished first in the age group in all eight competitions during the year; my best performances were at the Tuckahoe (NJ) and Cape Henlopen (DE) du's.  My end of year (2009) USA-Tri national ranking in the age group was 6th with two ranked in front of me only completing one competition during the year.

2010 Goals:
My goal in 2010 is to finish in the top ten in the Age Group Duathlon Nationals in Richmond the end of April and earn an invite to the World's in Scotland in September.  My current duathlon schedule for 2010 is the Gainesville (FL) Sprint Du on 3/7, the Wildman Sprint Du in Orlando on 3/13, Brandywine Valley (PA) Du on 3/28, Doylestown (PA) Du on 4/12, Hurricane Bi (Riverhead) on 4/18 and Age Group Nationals on 4/25.  Tentatively, I'll also compete in Carl Hart Mothers' Day Du, Long Island Gold Coast Du, Carl Hart Fall Du, Wantagn State Park Du, Cape Henlopen Du, Southshore Halloween Du and looking at a couple of du's in NJ (Long Branch, Lighter than Air, Ocean City or Sea Isle).  Will probably compete in three tri's:  Mini-Mighty, Independence Day and Great North Fork.

History:
After getting married I put on the freshman 30 or was it 40. A fraternity buddy of mine got tired of hearing me complain about my weight and my students and made me run a mile with him. I thought it was going to be the death of me; quite frankly it was embarrassing. Since then I've committed myself to losing that extra weight and taking my stress out on running rather than letting it all pile up and get to me. This year was my first year running the Long Island Half Marathon.

2010 Goals:
Cow Harbor 10K
9/11 Race to Remember
Nike Human Race 10K
Jack Rabbit Battle of Brooklyn 10miler
